Hello everyone, it’s Kareki! I’m sure it must be difficult to go back to work after New Year vacation. How is it going?

We are glad that it snowed all night until today, we got 15cm of snow! However the lack of snow is still tremendous, and for Hakuba Goryu’s 50 year anniversary, it doesn’t seem like a good season. On the contrary, it seems like the worst snow season for our Resort!

Because of that, you can see holes now and then on Toumi slope, as if we were on November or April. Even the snow on Woody Course seems very thin, so please be careful while skiing down the mountain. We really advise our visitors not to use brand new ski gears for the moment, until the snow comes back.

Even in the cold, seeing the moon early in the morning make up for a beautiful scenery. It is still not white enough though.

After my break for New Year vacation, I started practicing rescuing with the patrol group. At first, young patrol members started the day full of confidence in their skills. But, skiing for pleasure and patrolling in the ski resort are completely different. It is like learning a new way to ski. I want the youngsters to master rescuing techniques as fast as possible so we can be fully operational. (of course without anyone hurting himself!)

This stone is located at the entrance of the tunnel (to Tsurugidake) of Hayatsukione in Babajima. In order to become an ideal patrol member, you have to experiment and make the effort. I wish our young members will do their best this year so that we can rely on them!
