Welcome to the first ever English edition of the Goryu Patrol blog. I’m Cultus.

 

This morning we were greeted by winters face again. The visibility was lackluster so setting up the hill was more difficult but like a well oiled machine our patrol team got the task done in no time at all.

 

After a scorching day yesterday feeling that familiar sting of the winter breeze was gentle reminder of the rapidly changing conditions that we have to face. So please dress for the weather and stay warm.

 

 

A Reminder to follow the rules of the hill and to read the daily reminders on the whiteboard as you’re getting off the gondola.

 

Seeing the akjas lined up ready for the day ahead reminds me that as patrol we always have to be prepared to respond to all challenges we’re faced with and that as a team we all have each other’s backs.

 

The nice guy key-san and I slid to our next job and behind me I heard “eeh! GeGeGe no Kitaro!! (ゲゲゲの鬼太郎)” where he had found TKG-sans precious badge.

 

 

 

While check the resort boundary poles I looked up and was entranced by the the fog shrouding the forest. Just how beautiful can nature get!(A Reminder that when leaving the resort bounds to please use the designated backcountry gates located at the top of the hill.)

 

 

As the upper slopes were covered in fog the lower toomi area was extra busy. The sight from above reminded me of a page from ‘Where’s Waldo’.

 

please be careful when skiing on crowded slopes and keep ample space between yourself and others.

 

As the afternoon rolled around we were blessed with sunny blue skies as the clouds retreated down away from the slopes, leaving safer passage for those making their way home.

チームの絆と「ゲゲゲ」な落とし物

整然と並ぶアキヤ（救助用ボート）を見ると、パトロールは常にどんな困難にも立ち向かう準備ができていなければならないこと、そしてチーム全員がお互いを支え合っていることを実感します。

さて、ナイスガイのキーさんと次の現場へ滑っている時のこと。後ろから**「えぇ！ゲゲゲの鬼太郎！？」**という声が。見ると、キーさんがTKGさんの大切なバッジを見つけ出してくれました（笑）。

霧に包まれた森とバックカントリー

コース境界のポールを点検中、ふと見上げると、霧に包まれた幻想的な森の美しさに心を奪われました。自然はどこまで美しくなれるのでしょうか。

【バックカントリーに行かれる方へ】 スキー場管理区域外へ出る際は、必ず山頂にある指定のバックカントリーゲートを利用してください。

賑わう「とおみ」ゲレンデ

上部エリアが霧に覆われていたため、下方の「とおみゲレンデ」は非常に混雑していました。上から眺めるその光景は、まるで『ウォーリーをさがせ！』の1ページのよう。

混雑した斜面を滑走する際は、周りの方と十分な距離を保ち、安全運転でお願いします。

午後になると天気が回復し、雲が斜面の下へと退いていきました。美しい青空が広がり、お帰りの皆様の足元を明るく照らしてくれました。
